Real-Time Risk Monitor

Combine market volatility with increased pressure to have strong risk controls in place, and many firms are finding that the information produced by their existing systems isn’t timely enough, when it comes to providing a consolidated view across different platforms and asset classes. Aleri’s Real-Time Trade Risk Monitor framework combines two powerful technologies to deliver a continuous, real-time view of positions, exposure and concentration across asset classes and trading platforms.

Real-Time, Continuous Valuation

It starts with the Aleri CEP engine, a real-time engine for event stream analysis, designed for the most demanding conditions. Unlike a relational database, Aleri CEP has the real-time scalability and performance to be able to combine real-time transaction streams with position data to track net positions and apply real-time market prices to continuously show the current value of positions and exposure.

Normalization and Consolidation

Many firms suffer from “the silo effect”: data is trapped in a number of different disparate systems. Each system can provide a view of the data that it has, but obtaining an enterprise-view across systems, in a timely manner, is a problem. Aleri CEP provides for real-time normalization and consolidation of data from heterogeneous systems. Non-intrusive integration allows data from each system to be streamed into the Aleri server in its native format, with the Aleri engine performing the normalization required to combine it – in real-time – with data from other systems.

Multi-Dimensional Aggregation - Roll-Up & Drill-Down

Aleri’s Live OLAP server takes analysis capabilities to the next level, by allowing users to aggregate data across multiple dimensions with interactive roll-up and drill-down across any combination of dimensions, including the ability to drill all the way down to see individual transactions. Want to see current exposure by counterparty and asset class? Or perhaps by trading desk and counterparty. What about the ability to roll up along the counterparty dimension to go from trading entity to aggregate exposure at the parent level? There is no limit to the number of different dimensions that can be used for analysis, and all analysis is done against the live data set, providing continuous intelligence.

Limit Management

Limits can be set at any level of the data hierarchy, with real-time monitoring of positions and exposures vs limits, views of capacity utilization and real-time alerting.

Non-Linear Aggregation

A new feature being added to the Aleri Live OLAP server in the upcoming release will provide support for non-linear aggregation, allowing individual components to be weighted when computing aggregate values.

Custom Solution

The Aleri framework provides basic building blocks for the implementation of a custom solution that is tailored to the specific needs of each client. Unlike off-the-shelf solutions that don’t quite fit, the result is the perfect fit of a custom tailored solution, without the high cost and extended timescales of building a solution from scratch.
